Biography
Amanda Klair Soukup is a first year graduate student at The University of Memphis and is pursuing her M.F.A. in Theatre (Directing). She received her B.A. in Theatre for Social Change from Cottey College (Nevada, MO) in May of 2025. Amanda Klair's long-term aspiration is to utilize the transformative power of theatre through direction to amplify diverse voices and empower individuals through creative expression, design and performance in theatre, classrooms and non-traditional spaces.
Amanda Klair began her theatrical experience, like many, as an actor but as she studied colligate theatre, her love for theatre expanded to all areas! She is now a theatre generalist with experience in acting, musical theatre, scenic design, lighting design, staged combat direction, choreography, publicity, theatre education and direction of both musicals and straight plays. Amanda Klair's greatest passions lie within direction and education. Her philosophy is centered around the idea that theatre at its root is story telling. It is an art form that is reflective of the diverse lives and experiences of human kind. Amanda Klair strives to recognize, uplift and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual while placing focus on the collaborative nature of theatre to work towards a cohesive common goal.
